Trend: Blue Velvet

November 18, 2015

Velvet is a bit like marmite, you either love it or you hate it. Associated a lot with the 90’s tracksuits, a lot of people turn their nose up to it. However, this year it’s had a bit of a revamp and velvet is now a huge trend that oozes luxury and sophistication.

A few days ago I stumbled across a blog post about the blue fabric and I instantly fell in love. Take a look at some of my favourite blue velvet looks for both fashion and interiors and I’ve even put together a quick get the look guide too.

Ps. I couldn’t resist adding the cake into the mix too, it looks amazing!

Add some blue velvet to your life…

1. Boohoo Midi Dress £18: Just like the one in the photo, this dress is gorgeous and it’s definitely a competitor for my Christmas party outfit.

2. Debenhams Chesterfield Deluxe Sofa £900: I can’t actually believe this sofa is only nine hundred pounds. I’ve always had a thing for Chesterfield sofa’s but when you add velvet into the equation it makes it irresistible.

3. Day Birger Mikkelsen Maxtrix Quilt £169: Winter is here and I can’t think of anything better than wrapping up on the sofa in this velvet throw.

4. Loaf Benji Bed £1495: A bit pricey for me, but this bed would make an excellent statement piece in a bedroom.

5. Designers Guild Morosini Cushion £80: I’ve always loved Designers Guild and I can’t get enough of the print on this cushion- it’s a match made in heaven!

6. Topshop Velvet Court Shoes £60: Finish off any outfit with these heels and you’ll be sure to turn heads everywhere.
