Anyone else feel like August has been a really odd month? Energy levels have been low, the weather has been rubbish (apart from the last week) and for me there’s not really been a lot going on. Which is funny compared to the jam packed month I had in July! However, among the doom and gloom of the strange month we’ve just had, there’s still been a few things that have made me happy this month. And that’s what this post is all about right? Focusing on the positives!
5 Non Material Things That Have Made Me Happy In August
I passed: So you may or may not remember, but a few months ago I got myself a new job! Since starting Farfetch, I’ve had so many amazing experiences, met some really lovely people and I’m absolutely loving it. This month however came with even more exciting news. Pop the champagne because I’ve passed my probation! Woohoo!
I can’t believe I’ve nearly been there four months now, where has the time gone?! But like I said, I’m really enjoying it and looking forward to the next few months. There’s lots of exciting plans in the pipeline!
New Stadium: Advanced warning, if you’re not a football fan, you’re probably going to find this next one a little boring. I mentioned in my first happiness project that I’m a pretty big West Ham fan. And if you are in fact a football fan, you would know there’s been a lot of exciting changes for West Ham over the last few months. This month we officially moved into our new stadium- the London 2012 Olympic Stadium! And it’s pretty amazing.
Having visited the stadium three times already this month (yes, I know that’s a lot!), it’s still such a novelty walking down the big pathway towards it. It feels like we’re playing at Wembley every other week! It’s going to take a while to actually feel like home, but the West Ham spirit is still as strong as ever.
Staycation: Man I need a holiday. I probably say it about 100 times every week! So a few weeks ago, we decided to go on a little last minute staycation. We took a trip up to a small village just outside Milton Keynes and stayed in a place called Horwood House. The hotel was set in some really lovely grounds in the middle of nowhere so it was just what we needed. I’d be lying if I said it was perfect, it was actually a bit of a disaster but we still managed to have a nice few days away from it all!
Pretty Little Liars: You’re probably going to gasp a little, but I’ve never seen Pretty Little Liars before. Until this month. When it comes to TV series, we are huge binge watchers- we watched Making a Murder in a weekend and I demolished the OC in about 10 days! So when the program Scream, finished on Netflix a few weeks ago we needed something else to get our teeth into. I’ve always been a huge fan of programs like Gossip Girl and The OC so when I got told we needed to give PLL a go we got straight on it. As bad as some people may say it is, I’m officially hooked and quickly making our way through the first season. No spoilers please!
Bank Holiday Vibes: I’d be lying if I said I haven’t cheated a little on this one as I was actually supposed to post this Monday instead of today, but the Bank Holiday weekend has made me very happy this month. I haven’t had a day off work since the May Bank Holiday so it’s been so nice to have an extra day off! We didn’t really have many plans for the weekend, which for us is very unusual. However we ended up spending some time with distant family at Greenwich Park, caught up with some friends at an engagement party, spent the day at the cinema with Mummy Barber and even managed to fit in a little bit of retail therapy. On top of general life admin! It’s sad to think the next bank holiday isn’t until boxing day now. But on this plus side, we’ll be in Thailand for that- YAY!
What’s made you happy this month?
