Summer Wedding Style

July 27, 2016

Deciding what to wear for a summer wedding can be hard. Do you opt for the classic floral dress? Mix it up with a playful co-ord? Every wedding is different so one outfit may not fit all. I spend so long looking at summer wedding style inspiration posts before a wedding- it’s the best place to start!

Over the weekend we went to the most amazing wedding. Set in the heart of the Essex countryside during one of the hottest weeks of the year, the Houchins farmhouse was the perfect location for our friends Mr and Mrs Jarvis to tie the knot.

The wedding was beautifully elegant and although they were forecast rain, the sun shone all day long. The unpredictable English weather is one of the biggest threats to a summer wedding. So when it comes to choosing something to wear, sometimes it’s best to be prepared.

I stumbled across this jumpsuit from Miss Selfridge about a month and a half ago. I saw it in the shop window one Sunday afternoon in town and fell in love with it. After trying it on in the shop, I decided this is what I wanted to wear to the wedding. I don’t really wear jumpsuits much, I always feel I look odd in them but there was something about this one I liked.

You can’t go wrong with pastel colours at summer weddings, unless it has a theme of course! One of the main things I loved about this jumpsuit was the top half. Ruffles are a big trend this summer and I love the powder blue colour so I was super happy to find something that sported both. Paired with a nude bag and shoes, I was feeling super summery, even if I was wearing trousers!

I love looking at what other people are wearing when I go to weddings. There’s always so many lovely outfits! Some of my faves were an Oasis off the shoulder floral dress and a grey Coast co-ord, both modern takes on some classic wedding outfits.

Although it feels like summer is already over, we still have a good six weeks or so before the wedding season comes to an end. So here are some of my favourite summer wedding outfits, in case you love leaving it to the last minute!

I was at a wedding this weekend too! I went for a floral off the shoulder dress which I was completely in love with, but this gorgeous jumpsuit is stunning too. I love the colour and the ruffled top. x
