52 Hours in Amsterdam

December 16, 2015

When it comes to European cities, sadly I can’t say I’ve visited many of them. With places such as Copenhagen, Paris, Stockholm and Barcelona on my to-do list, last week I was lucky enough to tick off another cityΒ I’ve wanted to visit for a while now: Amsterdam.

As the trip was part of my boyfriend’s Christmas present, he had no idea we were going until I woke him up that morning at 3am so I was all the more excited about it.

Here are a few of our highlights and photos:

When you come back from this city, you’ll probably end up with a hundred photos of canals that all look the same. Each canal is as pretty as the next.

I never knew Heineken was from Amsterdam until we got to the Heineken Experience, oops, but if you like beer you’ll love this place. We drank a lot…

Amsterdam has always been known for it’s prostitutes and sex shops. However, it’s also filled with tones of cute bakeries and coffee shops you can spend all day relaxing and watching the crazy world outside go by.

Good food is always a highlight of a holiday so it’s a good thing Amsterdam isn’t short of it. As it’s close to Christmas weΒ visited some of the pop up Christmas market style food stands and indulged on churrosΒ and currywurst. My boyfriend even tried cheese fondue for the first time! If you’re looking for a good fondue in the city try Het Kerbeel, the lady in the cheese museum recommended it and its great.
