We’re Going On Holiday… For FOUR weeks!

December 12, 2016

As you probably know, I’ve been waiting to write this post for a long time. Nearly a whole year in fact! But now the time has come and I can actually say WE’RE GOING ON HOLIDAY!

I mentioned back in June we’d booked a pretty exciting holiday to Thailand and Australia over Christmas. Now, after spending lots of money, doing lots of planning and 11 months later we’re about to see all our hard work become a reality.

We booked the holiday in January, a week after we came back from the Christmas holidays in fact! At the time I don’t think we’d really taken into consideration how much time and money a holiday this scale would cost. Over the course of the year we’ve planned and looked into a number of mini holidays but they’ve all ended up falling through due to lack of funds and annual leave. So as you can imagine, it’s been a pretty long, cold year. At the time of writing this, it’s 4 degrees outside, which for the last few days has been pretty warm!

But enough of the doom and gloom, lets get onto the exciting part.

The Itinerary

Our first stop is Thailand. Bangkok to be precise.

As Bangkok is one of the main hubs of Asia, we thought we’d be silly not to spend a few days here at some point of our journey. I spoke a lot about the logistics and reasons why we chose the route we did in my multi-centre holiday post so you can find out all that information over there.

Next on the list is Chiang Mai.

We arrive in Chiang Mai on the 15th and for me this is one of the most exciting parts of the holiday as we’ll be spending two days at the Elephant Nature Park. One of the main reasons why we’ve always wanted to go to Thailand is to meet the elephants so I can’t wait for this. I think I may actually cry with happiness!

After spending 5 days in Chiang Mai we’ll be flying down to Phuket.

Because we’ll be in Phuket for 7 days over Christmas we thought we’d split this into two and explore two parts of the area. We’ll be spending 3 days in Khao Lak (just north of the Island) and 4 days in the south of Phuket over Christmas. As this will be our first Christmas away from home (I’ll be writing a post about this) we decided to go all out and pamper ourselves by staying at one of the most amazing hotels on the island.

Whilst you’re all sitting at home infront of the fire, finishing off the left over turkey, we’ll be waving goodbye to Thailand and on our way to Australia. Our first stop in Australia is Melbourne (arriving on the 28th).

Unfortunately we’re only in Melbourne for 3 days so it’ll be a quick whistle stop tour and maybe a drink or two with my old work bestie Tasmin.

Late on the 30th we’ll fly into Sydney, ready for the best New Years Eve ever! New year in Sydney is a pretty big thing so I can expect our 3 days there will involve lots of partying in the sunshine- I can’t wait.

After we’ve seen in the new year ‘Sydney style’ we’ll be jumping back on the plane and heading up north to Brisbane for 5 days.

I am so excited about this because we’ll be seeing one of Andy’s best friends Alex who moved there two and a half years ago. We have lots of plans to explore Byron Bay, Sunshine Coast and maybe even meet a kangaroo or two.

The final leg of our journey is the Whitsundays. Here we’ll be spending 5 days back on the beaches, exploring the underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef before heading back to cold and miserable London.

Sounds exhausting

Luckily we have four days to recover when we get back before heading back to work but I reckon it’ll still be a bit of a shock to the system!

Whether I’ll be blogging whilst I’m away or not really depends on how much time I get but I promise there will be lots of exciting city guides and hotel reviews to read when I get back. I’m going to write some bits and pieces up on all the plane journeys we’ll be taking so I’ll try my best to start publishing stuff whilst I’m away.

Also, I some other exciting news…

I HAVE A YOUTUBE CHANNEL. Yes, I’ve taken the plunge and if all goes well, I’m going to vlog my whole trip. I plan to vlog about each destination as I’m sure there will be lots of footage to show you but you’ll probably have to wait until I get back until that goes live- I want to get it perfect!

However in the meantime, make sure you give my new channel a SUBSCRIBE HERE, and keep up to date with all our travels over on my Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Feel free to send over any travel suggestions and tips, I’ll have access to my emails and everything whilst I’m away so fire away, even if it’s a coffee shop suggestion, I really appreciate it.

Merry Christmas everyone and have a great New Year, see you in 4 weeks!

This sounds incredible, I’m so envious of you heading to a Elephant Nature Park…
I think travel is so important, if you can pack many destinations into one break then you’ve really got the perfect holiday..& think how many incredible experiences you’ll have along the way?
